When You Ask God...

Tuesday, February 11

Lately I've had a craving for creativity that has been suppressed by my constant business with work and school. I've had a desire to go out and make, do, inspire, create. With concepts and inspiration running through my head, I continuously ask God to just do something. I ask him to give me opportunities, give me time, give me patience, and give me interest. Give me a purpose. I ask him these things with hope, not with an expecting attitude waiting for him to give me what I want.

With patienly waiting for him to give me quiet time, or days off, or just neat and new opportunites, I find ways to be creative in my workplace and my essays on Civil Rights. I find ways to innovate art into my daily routine and write with purpose, dignity, and beauty. I try to incorporate this desire into my everyday life... I said 'try.'

Sometimes I get all prideful and super lame when someone says, "God did something cool for me!" My inner pharisee and ecclesiastical attitude comes out and says, "It's all pointless!" But then I have to step back in humility and understanding and realize that God is not confined to one type of ministry, one art, one vocation, or one lifestyle. His Gospel is not limited to a certain person, or group, or passion. The Gospel can weave its way through anything, making it light. It can influence simply by giving someone a passion out of the ordinary.

With my pursuit in writing, photogrpahy, and some other avenues, I've wanted God to do that for me. I've asked him to enter into my daily doings and use it and use me, all for his Kingdom. With that being said, I have some cool news where I must say, "God did something neat, and awesome, and somewhat ordinary, but I'm excited and I want you to be excited with me."

Venture Magazine | An incredible online magazine for stories and thoughts

I am now a part of their photography team, and I couldn't be more excited. I've been browsing all kinds of internships for the past month now that either had to do with 1) writing or 2) photography. This popped along somehow, and I was notified today that I would be a contributor. Take a look at their magazine here.

Although I wish I could tell you guys of all the neat things going on within my brain about something I'm working on, just know I am BEYOND excited for it. Let's just say it's something I've been dreaming of for a while now, and I've finally got some support in getting it on the go. Within the next couple of weeks, I will be revealing it so please keep on the lookout. It's going to be great . . . and God is doing neat things. ;)

On a side note: The picture on the top is an image of my new business cards that I am proud to say are very sleek and make me a little too giddy.
